GENEROUS diners at the Horn of Plenty, Gulworthy, have helped the hotel to raise almost £9,000 for the Children's Hospice South West and Help for Heroes.
Over the course of two and a half months, the kitchen team at the hotel and restaurant served more than 2,000 guests with its bespoke charity menus and donations were collected for each of the charities.
Owner of the Horn of Plenty Julie Leivers said: 'We are absolutely thrilled with the success of this year's charity menus and we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.
'Without the help of our local community and wonderful suppliers, and the continued hard work of our team at the hotel, we wouldn't have been able to raise this much money for two incredibly important charities — it's an amazing achievement for everyone involved.'
Horn of Plenty head chef Stuart Downie created a series of delicious menus for the charity events, using ingredients sourced from local producers.
These included: Goats Cheese Wantons on spicy ratatouille and a mint yoghurt to start, crispy belly of pork on bubble and squeak with roast carrot puree and a cider sauce as a main, and a pudding of warm chocolate and hazelnut brownie, chocolate sauce and coffee ice-cream.
