Pertemps Devon Premier Cup
Okehampton Argyle 1
Braunton 2
THISwas not the result Okehampton were looking for, especially after taking the lead with the move of the match in which Neil Agnew dived full length to head home the opener from a Nicky Pollard cross.
Okehampton played well for the opening 15 minutes but for some reason stopped playing simple passing football and just started lumping the ball forward — a strategy that lost them the game.
Halfway through the first half Braunton were given a penalty but it was saved by Okehampton keeper Richard Bailey and Argyle went in at half time leading 1-0.
They started the second half well, Paul Yip missing a couple of chances but Braunton started coming on strong and midway through the half were awarded another penalty—- this time they did not miss.
With 20 minutes to go Braunton thought they had scored, but again an excellent goal-line save from Bailey kept Okehampton in the game.
Then a long ball over the top caught the Okehampton defence out and Braunton sealed the tie with their second goal.
This weekend Okehampton Argyle first team entertain Newtown in the East Devon Senior Cup. Kick-off 2.30pm
