THE 25-hour vigil on behalf of the world's poorest people came to an end with a celebration of hope on Monday evening in Tavistock Parish Church.

The vigil included a 25-hour fast to help focus attention on the Jubilee 2000 campaign, which aims to put an end to Third World debt.

During the day about 70 people including 25 from Kelly College took part in the vigil, 25 days before the end of this Millennium.

The Millennium book of messages to the Prime Minister on the subject of Third World debt remains at Tavistock Parish Church until the end of January.
