WEST Devon homeowners are being given an opportunity to give their home a fresh new look, while raising funds for housing and homelessness charity Shelter.
Devon architect Peregrine Mears is taking part in 'Architect in the House', a fundraising initiative between the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and Shelter for the fourth year running. Since its launch, the scheme has raised well over £1-million for Shelter, including £111,000 last year alone.
The scheme will give people across West Devon the chance to receive an hour-long consultation, whether it is advice on building your own home, creating more space by extending your existing property or just making better use of the space you have.
In return, homeowners are asked to donate a minimum of £40 to support Shelter's work with people in housing need.
Mr Mears said: 'This is a great opportunity to show people the benefits of consulting an architect.
'It doesn't have to be grand designs, whether your home is big or small — we want you to get involved. Make sense of your space, and let an architect bring your design ideas to life.'
