The students had the task of creating and baking a cake or cup cakes of their choice to show creativity and skill in a cooking competition.
After two tough rounds involving more than 40 students, the successful bakers made it to the final, when local chef Peter Gorton and his sous chef Alex were judging the masterpieces. They were very supportive and encouraging to the students, even giving some of them pointers when piping and presenting.
The judges had a hard job to decide on the winners as the standard was so high, but the two overall winners were Becky Breeze with her chocolate iced cupcakes and Holly with a meringue chocolate brownie cake.
Both students have won a morning baking at Gorton's Restaurant. Runners up also received prizes donated by Morrison's.
Thanks were expressed to Peter Gorton and Alex for their time and expertise and to the many parents who supported the students.
