RESIDENTS at Burdon Grange Care Home in Highampton recently enjoyed their holidays, with a range of day trips.

The trips ran six days a week, with at least one each day. All residents, who live with long term conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis or recovering from an acquired brain injury, enjoyed the trips.

Among the treats were trips to Plymouth Aquarium with a boat trip around Plymouth Hoe, South Devon Railway, Paignton Zoo, and the Calvert Trust outdoor pursuit centre for disabled people, where residents enjoyed abseiling, archery, bushcraft, crate stacking and sensory time.

Each trip was tailored to the individual so that each resident could enjoy their day out as much as possible, with residents themselves choosing where to go for the day. The residents' fund, which they set up, was used to fund some of the holiday.

The care home expressed thanks to all the staff who helped out on trips out or back at the home. A special thank you went to Kelvin Sowden and John Parnell, drivers for the home, who worked particularly hard over the holiday period.
