Devon seconds E (West)
Bovey Tracey seconds v Lewdown seconds
LEWDOWN seconds were looking to make it five wins in a row as they visited the lovely Stover School to play Bovey Tracey.
Having lost the toss, the Lewdown bowlers quickly made inroads into the Bovey batting, with Sam Spry picking up three wickets in his opening spell. Wickets continued to fall, and pick of the bowlers Mark Gibbs ended up with a fine four wicket haul. Bovey were bowled out for just 133 with 10 overs remaining.
Perhaps the World Cup match was on his mind, but 16 year old Lewdown opener Will Hodgetts was in a rush. He passed his 50 in just 14 balls, and his hundred in just 28 balls. All of his shots were of the highest quality, with boundaries all around the ground; many flying into neighbouring fields. He reached his second ton of the season with an audacious switch hit.
Olly Brown ably supported with 20 not out to give Lewdown 20 points and beat Bovey Tracey, 2pts, by 10 wickets with 46 overs.
l Lewdown seconds next match is the derby with Bridestowe, with Lewdown .
Palladium U11s
Lewdown Blues U11s v Lewdown Lions U11s
THIS was the first ever competitive match between two Lewdown teams. Having lost the toss the Lions batted first.
Off the first ball debutant Hunter Strand took a great catch. Harry Bryant and Daniel Turney were the only Lions players not to lose their wicket against some fine Blues bowling. Nick Smith, two wickets, Hunter Strand, two wkts, and Callum Worth with two wkts, taking his tally to 14 already this season, plus a wicket each for Leon Horn and Matt Owen restricted the Lions to 207 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Smith, Jacob Jones, Owen and Morgan Scott all batted well without losing their wicket. The Blues closed on 275, winning by 68 runs. The match was enjoyed by all and played in excellent spirit.
