THE annual Lewdown Cricket Club Schools' Tournament took place under a blue sky recently.

Broadwood and Northlew Primaries were added to the six local primary Schools from last year's competition, being Lew Trenchard, Lifton, Lydford, Boasley Cross, Bridestowe and Exbourne.

Two groups of four teams played each other in the morning, with the top four teams playing semi and finals in the afternoon. Not to be left out, the morning losing teams also played two more matches in the afternoon to decide final standings.

The two unbeaten teams made it to the final, with last year's winners Bridestowe playing  Lew Trenchard.

With the ball regularly clearing the boundary, the match ebbed and flowed, but eventually Lew Trenchard were victorious, much to the joy of the watching children from the local school.

Medals and a perpetual trophy were awarded to the winners, with all participants receiving certificates.

All 80 children thoroughly enjoyed a busy and well organised days cricket at an excellent venue.
