THOSE interested in the history of Yelverton are invited to join a guided walk around the former RAF Harrowbeer Airfield on Easter Monday. The circular walk has been jointly organised by RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group and Buckland Monachorum village hall committee. It starts at 1.30pm from the village hall and tickets are £3 adult and £1.50 child. The price includes refreshments on returnl. Pre-booking is preferred, but not essential. Full details and further information on the airfield can be found at http://www.rafharrowbeer.co.uk">www.rafharrowbeer.co.uk In September 2004 a guided walk of the airfield and a few of the dispersed sites proved so popular it was decided to repeat it, with a few new additions, as a precursor to the second walk in April. ?There is a good deal of interest in the former airfield at the moment and this is a great opportunity to walk off the Easter chocolate and find out about the airfield?s history,? said Stephen Fryer, hall chairman and interest group member. The two bodies will link up again next month when the interest group will put on a display of airfield photos and memorabilia at the hall?s regular coffee morning on Saturday, April 9 from 10am to noon. A second guided walk, covering further sections of the airfield, takes place on Sunday, April 24.
