NEW information boards highlighting the wildlife value and variety of fruit trees in Buckland Monachorum?s Community Orchard were unveiled yesterday. The boards have been designed with children and visitors in mind to help them make full use of this resource. Pupils at St Andrew?s Primary School can receive educational resource from the orchard. Learning about the heritage of Devon and its diversity with regard to nature and the preservation of old varieties of apple trees. In addition, it gives pupils an insight into the care of an orchard, creating a haven for birds, insects, butterflies, and wild animals, enabling the children to observe all of these things on their visits. The unveiling took place in St Andrew?s Community Orchard with Horn of Plenty chef, Peter Gorton, unveiling the boards.
