CELEBRATING a double success is the newly formed Cabin Childcare Centre at Bere Alston.
Not only has the centre received a praising Ofsted report, but also news that a new building will be established next year.
In September, following one term under the new management of Sue Kowalska and Karen Sweet, Ofsted concluded the provision was 'good in all areas'.
The inspector praised all aspects of the centre and felt that with better premises, an 'outstanding' grade could be achieved — the new premises will be coming next year.
The Bere Alston Regeneration Project (BARP) has been successful in securing funding for a new building, incorporating a purpose-built nursery to raise the profile of the quality of services already in the village.
A spokesperson from BARP said: 'We are delighted the centre has got off to such a flying start and that their contribution to the village has been widely welcomed.
'BARP look forward to being able to provide a specific area for the children's centre that will help them improve the education of the children in the village still further.'
The Ofsted report says 'children's learning, development and welfare are successfully supported and promoted through the secure knowledge the provision has of children's individual needs', 'the staff's professional development is significantly supported through the management team's commitment to encouraging all staff to aspire to higher level qualifications', and the 'children are confident, happy and well settled in the secure and stimulating environment of the pre-school'.
Karen Sweet said: 'The support given by parents and residents at Bere Alston has been astounding as well as Devon County Council Early Years and Childcare department who have fully supported the new provision and regeneration project.'
Karen, Sue and the staff team offer childcare for 2 to 4-year-olds over four full days and one morning a week at Bere Alston. For more information contact Steph on 07817403166.
