IT?S crunchtime for a pilot initiative in West Devon and East Cornwall next week, when months of hard work are put before agencies which could attract thousands of pounds into the area.

The Tamar Community Futures group are the first Market and Coastal Town Initiative organisation in Devon and Cornwall to put their action plan for the future of the area to key bodies like the South West Regional Development Agency and the Learning and Skills Council.

The meeting takes place at Albaston on Wednesday.

Co-ordinator Jane Osbourne said: ?This is really a bit of a milestone for us. Community representatives and others have worked very hard over a long period of time to produce a comprehensive picture of what they would like to see happen in the area.

?This event will be our first opportunity to present the plan to the public agencies and invite them to become closely involved in developing, funding and supporting actions to follow ? we are hoping for some very positive results.?

Jane said some of the schemes to be presented to the brokering table are existing projects which are running out of funding ? some, like the Taviskate plan for a skatepark, are ?ready to go? except for funding and others require further development.

As one of the original pilots for the MCTI, Tamar Community Futures will be reporting back on the meeting to other groups in West Devon, like the Tavistock Area Villages Initiative (TAVI), with which it shares a common border, and the MCTI groups in the north of the borough.
