NORMAN Piper, Hatherleigh Town's most successful player, is popping in for a Christmas visit to his old club. Having joined Hatherleigh Town in 1963, he then went on to play for Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth and won caps for England at under 23 level. The club was recently contacted by Albert Beer, registration secretary for the North Devon League. He sent the club's Norman original registration form from 1963 — the only registration form Albert ever kept from the thousands that he possessed. Norman now coaches the academy with the Nomads in California, after playing with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and the Wichita Wings. Norman returns to this country every so often to see his sister and family in North Tawton. The club will present Norman with his registration form before the first team match on December 23 at 1.30pm at the Sportsfield. Norman will also be at one of the youth training sessions at 6pm on Thursday, December 21 at Hatherleigh Community Centre.
