AN employee from Initial Textiles Services in Okehampton has been honoured as a hero at a special celebration to mark the company?s centenary.
Ian Pike was among 150 selected employees who attended a glittering Centenary Celebration at the prestigious Staverton Park conference centre near Daventry.
The company?s Hero Award winners were recognised for achievements at work, at home or in the community and they had all been nominated by their work colleagues.
Ian, a packer and checker, was nominated for taking pride in his duties and being willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that customers are happy with the company?s service.
Peter Webster, managing director of Initial Textile Services said: ?Recognising the achievements of our staff was a great way to mark our centenary.
?Arthur Bigelow set up the company back in 1903 and a lot has changed since then ? we are now the UK?s market leader employing almost 4,000 people,? he said.
?However, one thing remains the same, and that?s the fact that our staff continue to be our most valuable asset.?
