A FORMER producer, director and cameraman of popular children's TV show 'Blue Peter' will be reliving the shows hits, misses and near-death experiences during an illustrated talk in Belstone at the end of the month.
Many people grew up watching 'Blue Peter' and will remember the studio, 'Blue Peter' garden and location adventures of household names like John Noakes, Matt Baker, Anthea Turner and Helen Skelton and their menagerie of animals such as border collie Shep, Lulu the defacating elephant and Socks the cat.
Behind the scenes for 36 years of the programme, until he retired in 2011 was Alex Leger. He produced around 600 Blue Peter films worldwide, surviving storms, landmines, erupting volcanoes, dehydration, food poisoning, tapeworm and attacks from stones and flying bullets.
Every year, or with each new presenter, he faced the continuing challenges of keeping children glued to their seats and helping educate them about the wonderful and bizarre at home and abroad.
Alex will be giving his talk 'Blue Peter: Behind the Badge' at Belstone Village Hall on Saturday, November 30 at 7.30pm.
Admission is free, refreshments will be available in the interval and donations will be invited for hall funds at the end.
Alex will also be selling signed copies of his book 'Blue Peter: Behind the Badge'.
