A WEST Devon inn will be joining hundreds of others up and down the country in raising money for hungry children.
The Dartmoor Inn at Lydford is taking part in Restaurants Against Hunger Week, which runs from October 9 to 17. Customers of participating establishments will be invited to treat one or several children to a meal as they dine out, by making a donation when they pay the bill.
The target is to provide £50,000 ? the equivalent of 200,000 meals to malnourished children. A donation of £1 can provide a full meal for four children in Africa or seeds to grow vegetables. All funds raised will go directly to Action Against Hunger, which works in around 40 countries.
Karen Burgess of the Dartmoor Inn said: ?How could we not do it? We all have so much and we are in the privileged position of being able to provide food that is good. It?s not just about piling food on the plate; it?s about quality and vitamins.
?We are all so well-nourished. The minute I saw the information I knew we must do it.?
The Dartmoor Inn will be joined by many other restaurants and top chefs during the week.
