TWO sixth-formers at Shebbear College, near Hatherleigh, spent the morning at a Chagford- based holiday homes agency as part of British Tourism Week. The two A-level business studies students — Rebecca Reader, 16, and Francesca Ritchie, 17 — got an insight into the ways that a professional holiday company attracts and satisfies customers visiting the West Country. Helen Hayes of Helpful Holiday introduced them to the information and purposes served by the brochures and website of the company and how they are designed and they talked to the IT team. They were also shown how enquiries and requests by holidaymakers are handled, and how bookings are made and processed for the owners of the holiday homes. Teacher Anthony Ashfield, who accompanied the students on their visit, said: 'We can take them so far in the classroom, but days like this are invaluable,' he said.
