A VIDEO made by Okehampton College students that shows the school's environmental credentials has been posted online — and it needs your support.
The video, filmed by Ryan Dodge, Sam Heron and Joe Wortley and starring Ben Bowles, Arkady Smallwood, Indigo Ramsey and Jacob Squires, is the college's entry into the 2015 Schools Sustainability Challenge run by the Trust for Sustainable Living.
Participating schools are invited to create a short video showcasing their best sustainability related project or collection of projects. The challenge will recognise and reward the sustainability action and leadership of schools around the world and the winning school will receive a trophy together with a cash prize of £500 or equivalent.
The video includes footage of the school and its wind turbine shot from a flying drone, as well as information on the college's energy projects presented by the student team behind the video.
It shows off the school's pioneering energy monitoring system, LED lights, pipe insulation, solar panels, biomass boiler, double glazing and more to highlight the school's environmental credentials.
The challenge will be judged on the quality of the projects included in the videos and their potential replicability around the world.
The number of views of the videos on Youtube is also taken into account during the judging process, so all views will help the college in their efforts to win the prize.
