WEST-Devon-based children's charity, CHICKS (Country Holiday for Inner City Kids), is appealing for volunteers to help out in its first-ever Big Bear Walk, which takes place in Central Park, Plymouth next month.

CHICKS Patron Kate Winslet has endorsed the Big Bear Walk on October 17, and volunteers are needed to help with stewarding and overseeing a variety of games on the day to make this goal a reality.

Volunteers will be needed from 9am until around 5pm and any offers of help will be greatly appreciated!

The children CHICKS care for come from a variety of backgrounds. Many have been abused, live in poverty, or have been neglected. The aim of the walk is to raise £10,160, the amount it costs to run one CHICKS camp. CHICKS is also looking to recruit a lottery volunteer manager and a voluntary marketing assistant. These voluntary positions are a great way to gain or build on experience within the dynamic environment of the CHICKS head office at Brentor near Tavistock.
