WEST Devon retailer The Hearing Company is celebrating a milestone anniversary by joining a fundraising drive for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. The Tavistock branch is one of 154 stores across the UK which will donate cash from hearing aid sales throughout Deaf Awareness Week to mark 50 years of The Hearing Company providing hearing care services. The money raised during Deaf Awareness Week, from May 5 to 11, will go towards training a new hearing dog. Alastair Kinsey, audiologist at The Hearing Company in Tavistock, said: 'We will be donating £50 for every hearing aid we sell during the week. 'We are very proud of our significant milestone and are marking it with this charity donation during the most important week of the year for hearing care specialists. 'We have a natural link to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which trains dogs to alert their owners to specific sounds, and are honoured to be able to support the fantastic work it does.' The charity's Alice Paine said: 'The training of each dog is a lengthy process that costs thousands of pounds —we are very grateful to The Hearing Company for this generous contribution and ongoing support.'
