THE March midweek stableford at Hurdwick Golf Club was played in heavy rain, which made conditions very difficult.

Phil Bryant was easily the top scorer on the day, winning division one with an outstanding 41 points.

Tony Pearson was second with 35 and Chris Dicker took third spot with 34.

In division two Ray Hurle was the winner with 35 points and Ray Spear and Rodney Browne were second and third, both with 32 points.

The only Two of the day went to Roger Gallimore.

The rain was not so heavy for the weekend stableford but storm force winds made conditions almost impossible. Standing still was a challenge and trolleys were falling like ninepins.

The only player to come near to mastering the freak weather was Martin Stevens with 34 points. He was followed by five players with just 24 points. Rodney Browne took second and Clive Edmunds third on countback.

Two men's matches were played during March, with a win at home against Fingle Glen by 4.5 to 1.5 and a narrow defeat away to Whitsand Bay by 3.5 to 2.5.
