A MAGNIFICENT £2,800 was raised by a Christmas draw held in Yelverton recently.
The money will go towards the Judi Spiers HeartSWell Appeal, which is fundraising for a residential lodge to be built for relatives of heart patients at Derriford Hospital.
The appeal aims to raise another £200,000 to see the project completed.
Construction work on the building started in September last year and it is hoped the first phase of the lodge will be finished by the end of this year.
Major winners in the draw were J Roberts of Plymouth who won the £1,000 top prize; the £250 second prize went to R Locke of Saltash and G Hallett of Lympstone won the £25 third prize.
Gordon Hallett generously donated his prize money to HeartSWell.
Reg Borbon, secretary of the group, said: 'The chairman and committee wish to thank all members and friends for their magnificent support and to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.'
The next HeartSWell fundraising event is a book sale in Yelverton War Memorial Hall, to be held on January 29 between 10am and 4pm.
A wide variety of books will be on offer, both contemporary and antique.
