THE team behind the park run at the Tamar Trails Centre is appealing to the wider community to help purchase and donate an automated external defibrillator (AED) for public access at Tamar Trails.
Tamar Trails park run has engaged with the South Western Ambulance Service to find out what equipment is required and understand the process of purchasing, installing and registering a public access debfibrillator.
Tamar Trails park run wishes to raise funds for an approved defibrillator and a defib safe cabinet, which can be registered on the South Western Ambulance Service 999 control system.
A cheaper portable defibrillator purely for the use at park run could be purchased but the team feels that it has the incredible privilege to be able to use such a location each week and this is something tangible that it could give back to Tamar Trails.
The woodlands and surrounding areas are used 24-hours-a-day all- year-round by a great assortment of runners, walkers, horse riders, cyclists and more — the defibrillator could be vital to someone in need.
Donations can be made online via www.parkrun.org.uk/tamartrails/aboutus — click the donation banner and them complete and submit the form.
When you then reach the confirmation screen, under the summary line, please be sure to click to “add a special instruction to the seller” and then enter ‘Tamar Trails AED fund’ in the special instruction field. This will indicate that it’s a specific donation for our defibrillator effort.
Parkrun UK will then exempt donations marked as such from the usual 15% contribution to the new event fund. Review the rest of the details and click ‘Donate’ at the bottom of the form. Parkrun UK will process donations within a week or so and send you a confirmation.
Note that the confirmation email will still refer to the 15% contribution to the new event fund but as long as you clicked upon ‘add a special instruction to the seller’ and entered ‘Tamar Trails AED fund’ in the special instruction field, then this will not apply.
Tamar Trails park run is very keen to involve as much of the community as possible in this fundraising process — if you have any questions please email at [email protected]
