A NEWLY formed health and well-being group in Tavistock is hosting a community information fair later this month for people to find out what activities and services are on offer in the town and surrounding area.

West Devon Community and Voluntary Services (CVS) has organised the event, with the support of Devon County and West Devon Borough Councillor Debo Sellis, on behalf of the new Tavistock Health and Well-Being Alliance, which is a multi-agency partnership for the purpose of improving communication and good practice in the interests of health and well-being of local people.

The community information fair, taking place at Tavistock Town Hall on Saturday, February 25, offers a chance to everyone in the area, regardless of age or ability, to find out about the huge range of activities and services on offer in the community of Tavistock and the surrounding area.

As in a traditional fair or market, stall holders from both the voluntary and statutory sector will be showcasing and promoting their ‘wares’ for the benefit of the public. Those members of the public will be able to meet representatives of the groups face-to-face, ask questions about all their activities, take home information and even apply to offer help as volunteers if they wish.

A spokesperson from West Devon CVS said: ‘A wide range of groups have moved quickly to book their tables in the hall. The stalls will, without doubt, appeal to all age groups from parents of the very young to teenagers, right on to the elderly, covering many interests from those that are outdoor and active to indoor and creative, from welfare advice to medical support, to guidance on environmental matters and support from local government.

‘As part of West Devon CVS’ commitment to the local community, we look forward to a successful event and hope to see you all there.’
