STICKLEPATH?S annual Horseshoe Run which covers a 9.6 mile moorland circuit takes place next week. Organisers are looking for more runners and helpers for the event on Saturday, August 19. The Horseshoe run starts and finishes behind Sticklepath Foundry (grid ref SX641940). The route travels around the source of the River Taw taking in almost 1,700ft of climbing and individual navigation is required. Runners set off at 1pm with those who have trained fully hoping to challenge the records of N Holmes in 1 hour, 9 minutes and 41 seconds set in 1997 and R Pickvance, 1:32:59 in 2002. Profits from the run go to the village, which is also hosting its flower show on the same day. Entries are limited to a maximum of 35, so please send cheques and FRA entry forms in soon, £5 per entry preferred. Competitors must be aged over 18.
