CASTLE Drogo held its annual Edwardian country fair last weekend.

There was fun for all the family including traditional games like skittles and a coconut shy.

The Dartmoor Ranger team and the Devon Rural Skills Trust demonstrated traditional rural skills such as hurdle making, broom making and spinning and the swing boats and a Punch and Judy show made an appearance.

On Sunday there was a day of local music, including 40 piece Bondleigh Barn Band which played a selection of Edwardian tunes. There was also music from the J25 concertina band and Dartmoor musicians the Ramsley. Tinners Morris also entertained the crowds with its colourful display of Morris dancing.

The fair was visited by a flock of rare whiteface Dartmoor sheep complete with their own shepherds hut from One Hut Full.

The castle was open to allow visitors to experience a castle with a difference as the building project to save the castle and make it watertight continues. Artists such as Exmoor based M-design have re-displayed the inside of the castle with artwork inspired by the stories of Drogo and the castle also currently has a tapestry by the Turner prize winning artist, Grayson Perry.
