l THE Hatherleigh Players are promising a spirited performance in their latest stage play ‘Blithe Spirit’.
The classic farce by playwright, actor and director Noel Coward, was a hit in the West End, Broadway and on film in the 1940s. The play is about Charles. a popular novelist, who is spooked by his past. Married to Ruth, his second marriage, he holds a seance to research a new book. However, a jokey experiment causes marital mayhem when, with the aid of Madame Arcati, he finds his first wife, Elvira, has suddenly materialised.
The Hatherleigh Players are directed by Jane Francis with a cast of: Charles (Stephen Carter), Ruth (Charli Sizmur), Elvira (Christy Rice), Madame Arcati (Ricki Entwhistle), Dr Bradman (Alan Jones), Mrs Bradman (Jane Fawcett) and Edith (Pauline Luke).
Performances are on Saturday, July 2 at Hatherleigh Community Centre at 7pm, on July 3 at Sampford Courtenay Village Hall at 4pm and on July 9 at the National Trust property at Castle Drogo at 6.30pm.
All performances will be outside on grass so please bring something to sit on.
