A SPECIAL meeting is to be held for members of Tavistock Town Council to discuss ward arrangements for the electoral review of West Devon.

The review is being carried out by the independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England — and will draw new council ward boundaries across the borough.

At the town council's finance and general purposes committee meeting last Tuesday, councillors decided that they needed to be involved in the matter, and have a say on the review before the deadline date of February 3.

Cllr Mandy Ewings said: 'This is a big decision and we should get involved, and I really think we should contribute.'

A recommendation to full council was that a special council meeting be held to consider the matter — the recommendation was due to be ratified at the full council meeting on Tuesday night.

l There is still time for local people to tell the commission for England where they think new council ward boundaries should be drawn across West Devon.

Draft recommendations are due to be published in April.
