RESIDENTS in East Cornwall are being asked to give their views as part of a Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service consultation.
Cornwall Council’s fire, rescue and community safety service is preparing for its three-year intergrated risk management and service plan with a Cornwall-wide consultation. The consultation will help shape what the service plans to do from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2019.
The council said like all public services, it was facing reducing budgets with fewer resources to deliver services to the people of Cornwall. This means it needs to think differently about how it can deliver essential services with less money, or consider how it can work in partnership with other organisations to deliver wider services more efficiently. To ensure that the council is focusing on the right areas, it is asking for the views of the residents.
The council is welcoming comments from all members of the community, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, lifestyle or beliefs. The council said it wants to actively engage with employees, elected members, partners and communities.
Geoff Brown, the council’s cabinet member for communities, said: ‘Your opinions really do matter. By telling us what you think, you are helping us to make decisions about where we focus our activities and shape the services we deliver.’
Chief fire officer Paul Walker added: ‘We pride ourselves on open and regular engagement with our communities as we continue working together to make Cornwall safer.
‘I recognise that we face challenging times ahead but, with flexibility and by working together, we can continue to deliver an excellent 24/7, 365 days a year service to communities, businesses and visitors to Cornwall.
‘Please take the time to have your say and help us to shape our projects and activities across the fire, rescue and community safety service.’
