CALLINGTON residents are being urged to take part in the current consultation exercise on the car parking charges for 2012/13.
The plea to get involved was made by Cllr Andrew Long, who represents Callington on Cornwall Council.
He said: 'Thanks to the efforts of Cllr Andrew Wallis, who chairs the parking policy panel, we have been given the opportunity to provide much needed relief to the traders in Callington by reducing the first hour charges for the town's two main car parks. It is vital residents embrace this and take part in the consultation and support the reduction in the first hour charges from 40p to 20p.'
'The other charges, which could see up to 8% increases in the longer term charges, are not helpful to the traders or people and we have the opportunity to oppose this part of the proposals.'
To take part, email [email protected]">[email protected] or go to http://www.cornwall.gov.uk">www.cornwall.gov.uk
The consultation ends on December 16.
