PLEASE can someone help me? I cannot walk very far so I have a dog walker. He took my two wire-haired, dachshund x border terriers on the canal path.

He let them off the lead in a field behind Tavistock College, and he lost them. This was Tuesday, February 11.

Now, Khali always comes home to me, in fact last time they were let off the lead, the very kind people at the swimming pool found her walking down Plymouth Road on her way home — Digby had already arrived home.

Their mother is missing them and so am I. I am like the mother of the children who were enticed away by Peter Pan, doors left open, basket for them to dive into.

I have asked every person — police, dog warden, the vets, every person possible who may have seen them.

If they have been shot while sheep chasing please let the Times know. Maybe their collars have been lost scrambling through a hedge, or call me on 01822 612128.

The house is so quiet without them.
