Duchy league division 2 Pelynt 1 Lamerton 5 BOTH teams coped well with the windy conditions and it was Pelynt who went ahead when Mike Rendle took advantage of hesitancy in the Lamerton defence and was fouled, converting the resulting spot kick. The visitors quickly bounced back and a long ball by Paul Breyley was met by Paul Cowling, who steered it past the home keeper to level the scores. Lamerton then began to dominate territorial play. Chances fell to Dave Byworth, Lee Wickett and Cowling, with none being converted due to some excellent keeping by Pollard in the home goal, bad finishing and bad luck. In fact it took a great save by Pete Daniel to deny Pelynt an interval lead. Lamerton continued to push forward in the second half with Zac Beesley dangerous down the right, but a second goal was proving elusive. It eventually came when good work down the left saw Pete Broomfield lay a simple ball back to the edge of the box for full back Graham Cole to curl a great shot into the far corner. It was a real tension reliever and the turning point of the match. With Pelynt?s hopes of a draw in tatters, Lamerton relaxed and more goals followed. Pete Broomfield bagged the third, firing into the top corner of the net and Paul Cowling scored two in the last 10 minutes to complete a well deserved hat trick and produce a final score which was a bit harsh on Pelynt. This week: away to St Anne?s Chapel, 2.30 kick off.
