Duchy division 1 cup semi-final Altarnun 3 Lamerton 0 (Altarnun win 4-1 on agg) WITH a good away performance, Altarnun held Lamerton to a 1-1 draw in the first leg. They took the lead through Wayne Smith, but Steve Wickett scored for Lamerton to set up an interesting second leg. Lamerton had yet more injury setbacks for the tie, with Dan Healy sustaining a broken nose and stitches to the head and the team looked out of shape, especially in the second match. Altarnun striker Lee Phillips? pace and attitude were always a threat and he scored twice after just fifteen minutes of the return leg; one a rasping volley from 20 yards. Things got worse for Lamerton when Steve Wickett limped off before half-time only to be replaced by header-less Healy. With a wind/slope scenario for the second half Lamerton felt they had a chance, but Phillips all but sealed it with his hat-trick goal just before the break. He cut inside and beat two defenders to score with ease. Lamerton pushed in the second half and created numerous chances. Simon Breyley scored from a header, but Altarnun?s Stuart Cole saved with his hand on the line. He protested the ball was already over, but the ref produced the red card. Pete Broomfield missed the resulting spot-kick and Lamerton knew it was not to be. Graham Cole then missed from 2 yards, Healy shot wildly and Kev Swift hit a crossbar, but a goal never came and Altarnun ran out deserved winners.
