IT was a full turnout as Stannary Hash House Harriers (SH3) celebrated their 900th run.

Formed in 1991 as an offshoot of the TVH3, Stannary Hash House Harriers meets every Monday evening at 7.30 pm for a hours jog and run around the moors, tracks and trails in and around Tavistock and surrounding areas.

The 900th run was at held Lopwell dam, where the trail was laid around the riverbank, across fields and tracks with a long slippery downhill descent back to the starting area. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves especially with the opportunity of a cooling dip at the dam. Instead of the usual gathering in a local pub a barbecue had been organised at the dam to mark this milestone event with Hashers bringing their own food but with the drinks laid on by the committee.

Chris Eastaugh, a spokesperson for the Stannary Hash House Harriers, said: 'Many of the elder Hashers recounted tales of their early hashing days and runs, concluding that now was perhaps the best time to be running with SH3.

'As well as enjoying the experience of those older hashers there are also a good number of recent additions to SH3, bringing new enthusiasms and ideas. The club is always open to new people — why not try hashing yourself? You get to see the area, meet new people of all ages, get some exercise for an hour and visit the local pubs.
