A SUM of £597 raised at the harvest supper at Fairplace Church, which marked the end of a weekend of harvest celebrations, has been sent to the ShelterBox Appeal for Pakistan.
The harvest weekend involved many visitors coming to view the decorations of flowers, fruit and vegetables and to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee on Saturday. The Sunday morning congregation took part in a service of thanksgiving led by Barry Searle. Enthusiastic hymn singing was accompanied by an instrumental group.
The evening service was a songs of praise with the choir leading the singing with a wonderful rendition of Bringing in the Sheaves as well as two anthems written for members by John Holland. The hymns were interspersed with readings and poems.
