A weekend of harvest celebrations will begin tomorrow (Friday) at Tavistock Parish Church Centre and St Eustachius. Each day a special event will be held, with the focus on caring for God?s creation. Tomorrow from 7.30pm to 9pm there will be an informal talk in the parish centre by Kit Harbottle, of Tavistock Methodist Church. Entry is free and refreshments will be available from a fair-trade café. Then on Saturday there will be a special harvest workshop on the theme of water, in the parish centre from 9.30am to noon for children of all ages. Places should be booked in advance by contacting Joan Symons on 01822 617548. The harvest festival on Sunday, October 7 in the parish church at 9.45am will also focus on the theme of water and support the work of Water Aid. l Harvest celebrations begin on Sunday, October 14 at Tavistock Methodist Church, followed by an all-age service focussing on the charity Water Aid. The celebrations then continue at 6pm with a harvest songs of praise then with a harvest supper of local produce at 7pm. Melanie Tamblin, spokesperson for the church, said: ?It was felt that to follow on from the traditional songs of praise it would be good to have a harvest supper that reflected this. ?This is an opportunity to praise God for his bounty and to thank him for local farmers and growers in the South West area.?
