TWO young swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club recently attended the competitive Exeter City Sprint Gala.
Ten-year-old Harry Thompson took part in four events and achieved a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke. He also won bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and the 100m individual medley. These medals were all achieved with improved personal best times. Harry was also fifth in the 50m freestyle event.
Kieran Rookes took part in five races in the 11-year-old group category. He won three silver medals in the 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle events, while gaining two personal best times. Kieran was also fourth in the 100m individual medley event.
Overall, these two young swimmers entered nine events, won seven medals and achieved six personal best times between them. Congratulations to both the boys, who are pictured here.
Just to show that you are never too old to swim competitively, Chris Anderson recently took part in the Devon Seniors and Masters event at Tiverton. Chris, who last swam competitively in 1976, took part in four events in the 55–59 age group. He won gold medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke events and silver medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle events.
