Lewdown firsts  v

Bideford firsts

LEWDOWN travelled to Westwood Ho looking to continue their fine start to the season against Bideford. Lewdown skipper Charlie Hughes decided to put Bideford into bat.

Rob Mutch and Kris Harris soon got amongst the wickets with the prolific run scoring trio of Ford, Allin and South African Young all back in the pavilion with just 12 on the board. There was to be no way back for the home team as Harris bowled his allotted 13 overs without break and with the help of some superb catching finishing with 5-40. At 80-8 Rob Mutch was brought back into the attack and soon cleaned up the tail with figures of 4-22. Bideford being all out for 96.

In reply, Lewdown Kris Harris and Harry Geering were untroubled, reaching 32 at the tea interval. The runs continued to flow after the break with Lewdown reaching 79 before Geering was caught for 40 and Harris caught for 41 with just seven runs needed. Jack Skuse and Mark Jordan finished the job with some 30 overs left — Lewdown winning by 8 wickets and picking up 20 points. It has been a great start for Lewdown, who have now won their five opening games and are top of the table.
