STANNARY Hash House Harriers have been up to it again! Last weekend 16 hashers plus friends and family competed in this year?s Chamouth Challenge and fun run. The Challenge is a recognised fell race as it is not for the faint-hearted hasher. The course takes you on tarmac first then stone and gravel tracks, across many fields and over many stiles, to the summit of Golden Cap, and then along the heritage coast line to the descent at Stonebarrow Hill and finally to the finishing line at Charmouth School. The Fun Run started at 2.30pm, which is a tough two mile race for the young ones. First Stannary home with an amazing running position was Miles Eastaugh. Also competing in this race was his sister Fen Eastaugh, Elsie Kirby and Rosie Walsh. The main race itself kicked off at 3pm; the sun was very hot, although there was a lovely sea breeze in places. First hasher home was Andrew Vernon, although not managing to beat his sub 1 hour time, he was not too far off. Chris Eastaugh was next to follow despite having a serious stomach muscle injury. Third Stannary home was Alan Kirby which was astonishing as it was his first competitive race. His dad, Rob Kirby was next home followed by Thomas Blackmore. His sister Emily Blackmore was the first lady hasher home although Nicole Heryet was extremely close behind having overtaken each other on many occasions, but Emily put her fearless downhill skills into action on the steep descent to the finish to get 30 seconds ahead! Gary Ratcliffe was next home then Mark Woodgate ? both newcomers to this tough challenging race. Marie Larvin managed to beat Mike Neenan yet again on this course and finally, Ken Kay, our GM was last home. All in all it was an excellent Hash Camping trip away in Dorset.
