Westexe 3 South Zeal United 5 AGAINST Westexe on Saturday Zeal always looked like scoring and took the lead after 15 minutes when Steve Pillivant put Harley Cann away down the left and his low cross was easily converted by brother Redd. With the three aforementioned players giving the home side?s defence all sorts of problems it seemed that Zeal could increase their lead at any time. However a failure to clear a simple ball allowed Westexe to equalise and it then took some great saves by Adam Cann in the Zeal goal to stop the home side from taking the lead. As the first half progressed Zeal began to reassert themselves and another great run and cross by Harley Cann set up Steve Pillivant to put Zeal 2-1 up at half time. In the second half Westexe came forward in search of the equaliser which allowed Zeal to break on numerous occasions and it was no surprise when Redd Cann broke down the right and crossed for Lee Gilbert to score from close range to give Zeal a two goal advantage. Zeal went 4-1 up when Harley Cann set up Steve Pillivant for his second goal but conceded two quick goals with 15 minutes left and then had to suffer a difficult period of play as the home side went for the equaliser. However with five minutes left Ben Davey put Harley Cann away who was subsequently brought down in the area by the home keeper. Harley scored from the spot and made the game safe for Zeal.
