LAST year was a bumper fundraising one for the Winsford Trust at Halwill Junction.

Due to the hard work of the trustees and volunteers, a series of events over the year resulted in profits in excess of £3,500 to help with revenue costs.

Donations from other local sources have brought in almost £2,000. Special thanks are also due to Judith Anstey who ran the Paris Marathon on behalf of the trust and collected donations of more than £1,750.

The charity has some exciting projects ahead. The trust has been talking with the Community Council of Devon and the Devon Audit and Community Learning project officer, about a programme to bring IT and other courses to Halwill, some of which will be free.

The trust also received an early Christmas present when the major funder backing its campaign to purchase the building transformed the remaining ?mortgage? into an outright grant, leaving the trust free to concentrate on planned activities for the future.

The board of trustees expressed thanks to all the friends and loyal volunteers who have worked so hard to support the Winsford Centre over the past year.

The trust?s first fundraising effort of the year will be a jumble sale in Sheepwash Village Hall this Saturday, February 7, from 10.30am. If you would like to find out more please contact chairman Sandra Willetts on 01409 231537.
