HORRABRIDGE Community Primary School celebrating victory in the Plymouth Area Girls' Cricket Tournament held at Plympton Cricket Club.

It was the first time the school has entered this tournament and the first time the girls had played together, although they had been practising together for several weeks.

The team of Georgina Mullery, Frankie Johnson, Deanna Fry, Stephanie Hutchins, Fynlay Campbell, Emily Conybeare, Shannon Holland and Rebecca Holland did superbly said their acting headmaster John Clarke.

Mr Clarke, who coached the team said: 'We were particularly pleased as we played schools much bigger than ourselves and it was the first time we have entered this tournament. It was a fantastic achievement - the girls were overwhelmed with joy and pride.'

Despite playing against some very large and more experienced schools, they managed to win all of their matches to be crowned 'Best girls' cricket team in the Plymouth area.'

They now go forward to represent West Devon in the Devon finals.
