HURDWICK Golf Club held their annual mixed greensomes open on Sunday and conditions were very difficult, with heavy mist and drizzle limiting visibility and creating the usual wet weather problems to overcome. The winners were Peter and Carol West from Whitsand Bay, with 34 points. They were followed by local pairs, Kevin and Audrey Pugh and Rodney Browne and Pam Atkins, both with 33pts. The longest drives both came from Hurdwick members, with Kevin Pugh leading the men and Yvette Wood the leading lady. Nearest the pin prizes went to Bob Davie of St Mellion and Elaine Cooper of Tavistock. Hurdwick held their EGU gold medal competition which was won by Harry Bee with a net 69. Harry won a medal, a case of Fullers beer and the opportunity of going on to the national final. Second was Kevin Pugh followed by Tony Pearson. The leading lady was Yvette Wood.
