AN event organised and attended by both 1st Okehampton Guides and Scouts was a great success when the two groups went to camp last month.

The groups, who stayed at the Caddihoe Scout Centre near Broadclyst, cooked their own dinner on wood fires and remained in high spirits even while pitching tents in the rain.

The camping trip, spread over four days, was aimed to promote teamwork between the two groups and encourage them to work together as a team.

Both the guides and the scouts took on some challenging activities and many participants came away with badges.

The guides earned their camper and outdoor cooks badges and the scouts earnt their pioneering badges.
