The Lambs included Darren Halfyard and John Gosling in the squad from the first team and Mark Piper failed to make the line up because of flu.

They got off to the perfect start: Paul Mellor put Paul Da Rocha down the wing and his early centre back to Mellor allowed him to put the ball over the diving keeper.

Tavistock's keeper Pat Gibson came to the Lambs rescue as he tipped a goalbound shot from Darren Billing onto a post and again stopped the Civil player from scoring. From the rebound Steve Bray cleared off his line. But Gibson could not prevent the visitors equalising on 20 minutes as John Roberts' dipping shot sailed over him

Civil had the ball in the net five minutes before half-time but Gibson had been fouled and two minutes later the Lambs were unfortunate not to take the lead. Halfyard was put in the clear on the halfway line and his swerving shot was parried away by the Civil keeper.

The Lambs went behind in the 67minute from a sweeping move from Civil. The ball was crossed to the far side for Roberts to send in a low shot that gave Gibson no chance.

But they were not going to be denied as they continually harried their opponents into mistakes as the game reached its finale. Their late efforts brought just rewards with ten minutes left. The first corner from Richard Cameron seemed to have crossed the line but it was scrambled away for another and from it Halfyard got his head to it. Despite it being cleared away the referee ruled it had crossed the line to give the Lambs a deserved equaliser.

A very good result for the Lambs to hold their top of the table opponents to a draw.
