DARTMOOR Arts is running two exciting courses for young artists at Drewsteignton this half term to give them a taste of art school.
The Dartmoor Arts project was founded by sculptor Peter Randall-Page seven years ago with the aim of bringing excellent arts teaching to north-east Dartmoor. The project runs an annual summer school in Drewsteignton, but this is the first time courses have been run especially for younger artists.
The two day-long courses for 14 to 19-year-olds will both be led by practising professional artists, all with extensive teaching experience.
On Monday, October 27 artist Laurie Steen will run a drawing workshop which will encompass basic drawing principles, experimentation and working through processes.
Throughout the course the students will be encouraged to talk about their work and experience to help broaden their artistic language.
On Tuesday, October 28 Steffi Rees and Jackie Abey will be running 'Printing without a Press'. Students will have the opportunity to try relief and intaglio printing methods to create a number of pieces of work.
The courses are £35 per day, including all materials and light refreshments and will be held in a working artist's studio just outside Drewsteignton. For bookings or further information, please call Jackie Abey on 01647 281 282. For more information see http://www.dartmoorarts.com">www.dartmoorarts.com
