A HAIRDRESSER from Yelverton has just featured in the national quiz show ?The Price is Right? with Joe Pasquali. Jayne Toland, who owns the Cutting Company, travelled to Manchester with 20 friends to watch the quiz show last Saturday (July 1). Whilst watching the show, Jayne and her friend, Joedy Lawrence, were called up to take part in the guessing game. Jayne said: ?I was the second one to be called up during the show and was asked to guess the price of a necklace and was advised to go above £300. I guessed the wrong amount of £350. So then another lady had a go and won a car. ?I should have listened and paid attention to the shouting from my friends and the crowd on what price they thought the necklace was!? Initially 40 of Jayne?s friends were supposed to go to the quiz show, but 20 bailed out because they wanted to watch the World Cup quarter final match when England played Portugal. On the day, the programme was celebrating its 100th show, and during filming the show?s team presented Joe Pasquali with a cake to say thank you. Jayne said: ?It really lifted our spirits from the depressing results from the football match.? Bruce Forthsyth was the original presenter of the live show, which offers chances to win valuable prizes. In the show the contestants see a prize and guess its price. The person who guesses closest to the correct price, without going over, wins. Joedy, from Plymouth, was the first one to be called up in the second half and won a trip to Monte Carlo with £500 spending money, a watch, and £100 cash-in-hand. He said: ?The whole team there made me feel comfortable. It was such a surreal time.? Even though Jayne did not win, she did leave with a signed photo of Joe Pasquali and a t-shirt. She said: ?I didn?t mind not winning as I got to say my name and where I was from. It was nice to say I was from Devon and own the Cutting Company in Yelverton.? The programme is due to be aired today (Thursday) or tomorrow on ITV.
