A GALA charity hair show in aid of Tavistock Hospital was deemed a huge success last week by its organisers. The event, staged by Vaughan?s hairdressers at Tavistock Town Hall on Monday, October 1, saw more than 22 models all from Tavistock ?sashay? down the catwalk. Stylists from the two Vaughan?s salons in Tavistock styled models? hair and make-up for the two main catwalk themes: bridal, with gowns supplied by Perfect and Elegant; and contemporary, whose outfits were supplied by PL19 and Robbins. The event was supported by many local business, including Ottery Press who printed the tickets and Crebers who supplied their own labelled champagne. Matthew Carder, head chef at the Bedford Hotel, prepared the buffet. A raffle staged at the show saw prizes including a voucher from Curves Ladies? Gym, a hamper of cosmetics, hair irons and products, and a Christian Dior hamper. The styling team were brought on by Vaughan at the end of the evening and the audience rose to their feet and applauded. Vaughan told the audience: ?Most of my shows are held in Plymouth and I thought it was time the Tavistock team were put in the spotlight. I?m very proud of the spectacular show they have put on.? The total raised from the event is still being tallied but as the Times went to press it was in excess of £1,000. All of the money raised will be going to Tavistock Hospital?s equipment fund.
