MARCH was the month for madcap mops as pupils at Meavy Primary School tangled their tresses for charity.

The baffling barnets brought in bucket loads of brass as the school raised £178 for Romania Aid Group ? a Devon based charity which supports underprivileged children in Botosani, Romania.

Meavy teacher Derek Parkin staged the hair-raising caper after hearing that the charity needed money to maintain its ?House of Blessings? ? a safe house providing 24-hour care for disabled youngsters.

He said: ?The house costs about £1000 a month to run which is raised through fundraising activities and personal donations.

?It?s a long-term commitment and needs ongoing financial support.?
