A SOCCER Camp sponsored by Arsenal Football Club in conjunction with World Youth Promotions was recently hosted by Shebbear College.

The camps are run by Paul Butcher, son of ex-Middlesex and England cricket player Roland Butcher. Children from Bradworthy School, Black Torrington Primary, Shebbear Primary and Shebbear College Junior School, spent an exciting week receiving coaching in many skills , including passing, heading, turning and running with the ball.

There were exciting competitions based on the course with the winners receiving medals and certificates.

At the end of the course all the participants were presented with a trophy by Paul who has been running the courses for ten years and is a qualified teacher and coach specialising in cricket, swimming and football.

Shebbear College was delighted with the success of the week and is planning to run a soccer camp next summer and a cricket camp coached by Roland Butcher next Easter.
